In the heart of Amsterdam’s famous Vondelpark, Brouwerij ’t IJ has transformed a well-known monument into its latest taproom. The former tearoom, Het Blauwe Theehuis, has been thoughtfully redesigned by Studio Modijefsky.

On the ground floor, the wooden bar we created follows the lines of the façade, welcoming customers from all directions. Above this bar, a glass rack with hand-painted beer names connects three solid columns. The rack’s steel details form an ostrich egg, the symbol of Brouwerij ’t IJ.

For the second bar we made, we used the same materials as downstairs—terrazzo, aged zinc, and blue tiles—but applied them differently. Here, the bar follows the lines of the back wall, creating more space inside.

We also produced the custom tables, service stations, and terrace furniture, including high tables and wooden bench covers.

The overall design blends hard finishes with warm wood and aged accents, creating a balanced and inviting atmosphere.
